Special Case Cold Drawing Machine Manufacturer with Advanced Production Capabilities

Some drawing jobs do not fit a standard machine catalogue. Battery shells, drill pipes, composite tubes and electrode materials may require an unusual combination of material strength, section size, drawing length, reduction, tooling or production layout. FangRong develops Special Case Cold Drawing Machines around these process conditions instead of forcing a non-standard product onto a conventional drawbench.

The Product Comes First

For a special drawing project, the starting point is not the machine model. FangRong engineers first look at the material, starting section, finished dimensions, length, reduction per pass, required tolerance and production cycle. Materials may include 7075 aluminum, Inconel, copper-clad steel and other alloys that behave very differently during cold deformation.

This approach matters when a standard machine can provide enough pulling force but still cannot provide the required tooling arrangement, feeding method, stroke, positioning or downstream connection. The machine is then configured around the actual drawing sequence rather than around a standard specification sheet.

A Real Example: Battery Shell Drawing

For battery shell production, FangRong's FR-80 special drawing machine is configured with a 120kN fixed pulling force, 7m stroke and drawing speed from 0–20m/min. The system uses a 3-inch chain, ZQ650 reducer, 37kW motor and 45kW inverter, with PLC touch-screen control. Overall machine dimensions are approximately 17000 × 1100 × 1300mm.

These numbers are useful only when they are considered together. A 7m stroke determines how much material can be processed in one cycle, while pulling force, motor power and reduction determine whether the machine can perform the required deformation. For a custom project, changing one of these conditions can affect the chain system, drive selection, die arrangement and machine footprint.

Layout Is Part of the Engineering

A Special Case Cold Drawing Machine also has to fit the factory where it will operate. Before finalizing the equipment, FangRong can carry out on-site layout surveys and 3D simulation to check machine dimensions, material entry and exit, operator access, handling space and connections with existing equipment.

This is particularly important for long drawbenches. A machine may meet the process requirements on paper but become difficult to install if the available workshop length, material feeding direction or downstream equipment has not been considered from the beginning.

From One Drawing Process to a Complete Production Route

FangRong's experience covers cold drawing together with pointing, straightening, cutting, chamfering, winding and other metal-processing equipment. This allows a special drawing machine to be designed as part of a larger production route when the process requires it, rather than treating the drawbench as an isolated piece of equipment.

The same engineering approach can be applied to EV battery components, drill pipes, aerospace parts, electrode materials and composite pipes. The required machine can differ substantially between these applications because material behavior, finished geometry and production targets are not the same.

Custom Does Not Mean Starting From Zero

FangRong has been developing metal forming and processing machinery since 1998, with manufacturing facilities in Guangdong covering more than 10,000 m². Its equipment range includes hydraulic and chain cold drawing machines, precision straightening machines, pointing machines, cutting and chamfering equipment, drawing dies and integrated production lines. This existing engineering and manufacturing base provides the components, process experience and production capability needed to modify or build equipment for non-standard applications.

For a special-case project, FangRong can support the process from technical design and equipment manufacturing through installation, commissioning, operator training and spare-parts support. The Special Case Cold Drawing Machine objective is not to make a machine look different; it is to make the drawing process work for a product that standard equipment cannot handle efficiently.

EV Battery Cold Drawing Machine

EV Battery Cold Drawing Machine

The EV Battery Cold Drawing Machine is a hydraulic drawbench for producing aluminum battery cases from hot-extruded tube blanks. It supports 3003, 6061 and 1050 aluminum alloys, with a 120 kN drawing force, 7 m maximum stroke and 0–20 m/min variable speed. Hydraulic control provides stable drawing force for consistent wall thickness, surface finish and dimensions. PLC touchscreen control manages drawing speed and process settings.
