Pointing is an important preparation process before cold drawing, especially for tubes, bars and other metal profiles that need a reduced end section for die entry. The pointing method, reduction ratio and die configuration directly affect material feeding, die life and the stability of the following drawing process.
FangRong manufactures a range of pointing machines for different materials, dimensions and production requirements, including rotary swaging machines, hydraulic one-die, three-die, four-die and six-die pointing machines, rod pointing machines, and busbar pointing-cutting machines.
Our pointing equipment covers processing ranges from approximately φ3 mm to φ400 mm, with wall thicknesses up to 40 mm, depending on the machine configuration. Hydraulic multi-die models from FR-25 to FR-250 are available with up to six dies and cylinder diameters up to φ400 mm, with motor power up to 90 kW and clamping forces up to 500 tons for demanding applications and high-strength alloys.
For smaller and medium-size tube and bar applications, the FR-25, FR-76 and FR-100 rotary swaging machines use four dies and operate at approximately 220–238 rpm, covering material diameters from φ6 mm to φ100 mm. FangRong also supplies FR-10 to FR-100 rod pointing machines for bars from approximately φ2 mm to φ100 mm, using rolling reduction with motor power ranging from 2.2 to 45 kW.
For copper and aluminum busbar processing, our busbar pointing and cutting machines can handle sections up to approximately 200 mm in width and 20 mm in thickness, combining end forming and cutting in one process.
Different die arrangements are selected according to the material and required reduction. Three-die and four-die hydraulic pointing machines are suitable for controlled and concentric end reduction, while six-die configurations can be used for demanding materials such as titanium and nickel-based alloys where controlled forming is required.
Machine configurations can include automatic lubrication, quick die change and safety interlocks to simplify operation and routine maintenance. The equipment can also be integrated with FangRong Cold Drawing Machines and Straightening Machines to form a complete tube or bar processing line.
With experience in tube, bar and wire processing, FangRong provides pointing equipment for carbon steel, stainless steel, copper alloys, aluminum alloys, titanium and other special metals. We support customers with machine selection, process matching, installation, commissioning, operator training and after-sales technical service.
