FangRong's Hydraulic Four Dies Pointing Machines are built for tube and bar end reduction where large sections, heavy wall thicknesses and substantial forming forces are involved. Four hydraulic dies close around the workpiece simultaneously, creating a symmetrical forming action that helps control the pointed section and maintain stable material alignment. The FR-25/50/100/160/250 series covers pointing diameters from φ25 mm to φ250 mm and wall thicknesses from 0.5 mm to 40 mm.
The four-die arrangement distributes the forming force around the entire circumference of the workpiece rather than concentrating the load on one side. This is particularly useful for large-diameter tubes, thick-wall sections and demanding metal alloys, where uneven deformation can affect the pointed geometry or increase the risk of material cracking.
The dies close simultaneously under hydraulic force, producing a highly symmetrical pointed section with controlled ovality. Precision-ground guide plates and tie-rods help maintain the relative position of the forming components during repeated production cycles, supporting consistent die alignment and repeatable pointing results.
The FR-25/50/100/160/250 series uses four hydraulic cylinders, with cylinder dimensions ranging from approximately φ63 × 25 mm to φ400 × 160 mm depending on the model. Motor power ranges from 5.5 kW to 90 kW, providing different levels of forming capacity for small, medium and heavy sections.
The largest FR-250 model handles pointing diameters up to φ250 mm and wall thicknesses up to 40 mm. It is equipped with a 90 kW motor and weighs approximately 6,000 kg. Die configuration is selected according to the starting tube or bar size, material characteristics, required reduction and pointed length.
Four-die hydraulic pointing machines are suited to applications where tube and bar ends must be reduced before further forming or drawing. Typical applications include offshore drilling components, power-generation equipment, heavy machinery, large-diameter tubes and other demanding metal products.
For production lines requiring substantial sectional reduction, the pointing machine can be integrated with FangRong's large-capacity Cold Drawing Machines. Pointing prepares the workpiece for die entry, while cold drawing carries out the subsequent dimensional reduction. FangRong also provides custom die designs, equipment configuration, installation and on-site commissioning according to the customer's material and production requirements.
