FangRong Hydraulic Cold Drawing Machines are designed for cold drawing of steel, stainless steel, copper, aluminum and other metal tubes and bars where high drawing force, controlled movement and stable production are required. The machine range covers 2T to 3000T, with finished tube diameters from φ5 to φ1800 mm and drawing lengths of 5–14 m.
The right machine is determined by the material, starting size, finished size, wall thickness, reduction per pass and required production rate — not simply by tube diameter. FangRong engineers select the hydraulic cylinder, pump capacity, stroke and die holder according to the actual drawing load and production requirements.
Hydraulic drawing is particularly suitable for large-diameter tubes, heavy-wall sections and high-strength materials that require substantial pulling force. Unlike selecting a machine only by its nominal tonnage, the hydraulic system must provide enough force throughout the drawing stroke while maintaining controlled movement.
For example, the FR-100T provides 1000 kN drawing force with a φ260 × φ120 mm main cylinder. It is suitable for tubes approximately φ45–180 mm in diameter and wall thicknesses up to 20 mm.
For much larger tube sizes, the FR-3000T provides up to 3000T drawing force and uses a φ1420 × φ720 mm main cylinder. With six hydraulic stations and six 132 kW motors, it is designed for tubes from approximately φ530 to φ1800 mm, with wall thicknesses of 10–50 mm.
The required pulling force depends on more than the finished diameter. Material strength, reduction area, wall thickness, lubrication, die angle and drawing method all affect the load. A stainless steel tube and a copper tube with the same dimensions can require very different drawing forces.
For this reason, FangRong can calculate the required machine capacity from the customer's actual tube or bar dimensions and material grade instead of simply recommending the next larger tonnage.
FangRong hydraulic drawbenches offer drawing speeds of approximately 1–16 m/min, with variable-frequency control and return speeds up to 30 m/min. The correct drawing speed depends on the material, reduction, lubricant and surface-quality requirements.
Running faster does not always mean higher productivity. Excessive speed can increase heat generation, lubrication problems, die wear and surface defects. For difficult-to-draw stainless steel or alloy materials, controlled drawing speed can be more important than maximum machine speed.
The machine can be configured for different tube drawing processes, including sinking, fixed-plug drawing, floating-plug drawing and moving-mandrel drawing. Sinking is suitable when internal diameter control is less critical, while plug or mandrel drawing is normally selected when tighter control of inside diameter and wall thickness is required.
Hydraulic cold drawing machines can process seamless steel tubes, stainless steel precision tubes, copper tubes, aluminum tubes and other metal products used in automotive, HVAC, aerospace, oil and gas, heat exchangers and general precision manufacturing.
Depending on the machine model, hydraulic systems can use variable plunger pumps with capacities from 40 to 800 L/min. Cylinder stroke, pump flow, motor power and hydraulic pressure are matched to the required drawing force and cycle time. The system can operate at pressures up to 31.5 MPa.
PLC touch-screen control is used for machine operation and parameter management. For applications requiring smoother acceleration, deceleration or more controlled movement, proportional or servo-hydraulic control can also be configured.
If your process includes more than drawing, FangRong can integrate the hydraulic drawbench with pointing, straightening, cutting, chamfering and drawing-die equipment. This is useful for manufacturers who want to reduce manual handling between processes and produce finished tubes or bars in a continuous workflow.
