Why choose a chain-driven cold drawing machine for high-volume production and long-length tubes or bars? FangRong offers FR-16 to FR-600 Chain Cold Drawing Machines with pulling forces from 1T (7kN) to 300T, drawing speeds from 7 to 30 m/min, and maximum strokes up to 10m. The chain system is designed for repeated drawing cycles where stable pulling and straightforward mechanical construction are more important than hydraulic control.
FangRong chain drawbenches use heavy-duty straight plate chains with pitches from 1.5" to 5", including triple-chain configurations on larger machines. ZQ, ZL and ZFY series reducers transfer the motor power to the drawing carriage, with main motor capacities from 4kW to 400kW. Carriage return motors from 0.75 to 7.5kW and automatic chain lubrication are included to keep the machine ready for repeated production cycles.
The FR-25 Chain Cold Drawing Machine provides 10kN pulling force, an 8m stroke and drawing speed up to 28 m/min, using a 2" pitch chain, ZQ400 reducer and 7.5kW motor. The FR-250 increases the capacity to 1000kN with a 10m stroke and 10m/min drawing speed, using a 5" triple chain, ZFY500 reducer and two 55kW motors. For heavier production, the FR-600 delivers 300T pulling force with a 7m/min drawing speed, ZFY800 reducer and 400kW main motor.
A longer stroke is useful for longer products and fewer carriage repositioning operations, while higher drawing speed mainly benefits output when the material, reduction and tooling can handle it. The machine should therefore be selected according to material strength, tube or bar size, reduction per pass, product length and target output, rather than choosing the largest available model.
Chain tension becomes increasingly important as drawing force and stroke increase. FangRong uses a patented automatic chain tensioning device (Patent No. 2013207829011) to compensate for chain slack during operation. This helps maintain stable carriage movement and reduces the risk of excessive chain wear, chain breakage and uneven drawing caused by unstable tension.
The Chain Cold Drawing Machines can process carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, aluminum and alloy tubes or bars. For tube drawing where wall thickness and internal diameter need better control, an optional internal mandrel (core rod) can be fitted. Typical applications include construction steel bars, automotive stabilizer bars, bicycle frame tubes and furniture profiles.
For manufacturers producing finished-length products, the chain drawbench can be combined with FangRong Straightening Machines and Cutting Machines to reduce handling between processes. This configuration is particularly practical for high-volume production where drawing, straightening and cutting need to work as one production flow.
