FangRong's Rotary Cold Drawing Machine is designed for precision tube and bar drawing where surface condition, roundness and concentricity are more demanding than in conventional straight drawing. During the drawing cycle, the die box rotates while the material is pulled forward. This combined movement helps distribute lubricant around the contact area and produces a slight helical smoothing effect on the workpiece surface.
Rotary drawing is most useful when the finished product requires a cleaner surface and tighter geometric control, particularly with high-strength or difficult-to-process alloys. The rotating die can reduce localized friction between the material and tooling, while the continuous change in contact position helps avoid concentrating deformation in one area.
FangRong's rotary machines are used for stainless steel, titanium and nickel alloys, including precision medical tubes, aerospace hydraulic lines and fine wire for jewelry applications. The process can achieve roundness within 0.05mm under suitable material, tooling and process conditions.
The FR-50 to FR-120 range provides drawing forces from 5T to 20T, drawing speeds of approximately 25–28 m/min and maximum travel up to 9m. The FR-50 uses a 22kW main motor, ZQ550 reducer and 2.5-inch chain, while the FR-120 increases capacity to 20T with a 55kW motor, ZQ1000 reducer and 3-inch double-row chain. Carriage return motors range from 0.75kW to 2.2kW.
The machine should be matched to the actual drawing load rather than simply choosing the largest available model. Tube or bar material, starting and finished dimensions, reduction per pass, length and tooling all influence the required pulling force and rotation conditions.
Rotation has to work together with the linear drawing speed. An unsuitable relationship between the two can affect lubrication, surface finish and dimensional consistency. FangRong's PLC control system provides recipe management so operators can store and recall process settings when changing products, reducing repeated manual adjustments during production.
The rotary drawing system is also designed with practical production maintenance in mind. The die box, reducer and chain drive are selected according to the machine capacity, while the rotating action can help improve lubricant distribution and reduce concentrated die wear. Under suitable operating conditions, FangRong states that die life can be extended by up to 50%.
For a complete precision tube or bar line, the rotary drawbench can be combined with a Pointing Machine for material preparation and a Straightening Machine for final straightness correction. This is particularly useful when surface quality and dimensional consistency need to be maintained through several consecutive operations.
